Week-ends are for things that bring smiles!

End of week means...
beginning of relaxing.
Even sleeping in,no alarm setting,
and just waking up..naturally!
No matter when your week ends...

I don't generally have a weekend off,
but I do this time!

Leisurely breakfasts ....
slowing down,
and the makings of a beautiful day.
Hot cooked oatmeal with brown sugar and milk.
(And no, its not apple crisp..I just love to have brown sugar with oatmeal..lol  )
I'm beginning January with a more thoughtful,
healthy approach to foods.
I'm also starting to keep a journal
on my goals, choices,
and the whole journey.

And yesterday after work I excitedly drove
over to my favourite estheticians office
and had a soothing,
awe-ing spa pedicure
on my tootsies!
Oh my....these are such a treat
and a perfect way to help
keep your feet healthy, soft,
and pampered.
My esthetician is a sweetheart
and her name is Pam.
I like to say I'm going to get "Pam-pered"!
She is so good at what she does
and the bonus is... we get to chat all the way through!
The colour I chose was
OPI'S
"Ski teal we drop".
Love it!
Fingernails.... I love just clear gloss,
but for my toe-nails..I go all out!

Speaking of painting...
I finished painting our pedestal table
with  Annie Sloans old white chalk paint,
and I love it.
I also finished up painting the pantry, that my Dad had added to,
 by adding some new touches.
But where, oh where, did I put those new door handles for it?!
I still have to paint a couple more of the chairs,
but Im planning on doing those today.

It's sooooo cold here today!
A perfect day for staying in and taking it easy.
I may just have to pull out a few of my favourite decor books
and curl up on the sofa with a hot cuppa!

How will you spend your week-end?
I hope its a lovely one for you!!

Much love,
Deborah xoxo

How to have summers joy on a winters' day

Come with me? ...
 I'm looking back...
 at last summers
"joy moments"
with two very special girls.

I know its winter, and I am enjoying its beauties,
(just not the cold)
but I do love summer
and summer moments.
I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!

This is my sisters  grand-daughter, Chloe
 and
 my baby sisters daughter, Jayden

I love children..
full of joy,
innocence
and
wonder!

Simple moments
filled
with
sunshine..
within and without

Smiles coming right from those brown eyes,
and joy sitting right on top of soft baby locks
:)

and giggle til you fall over in green grass
kind of days

These joy-moments
that linger..
and then re-gift you
with joy again
in the memory of them

May your heart be full
in the many joy-moments
of each and every day.

All my heart,
Deborah xoxo

I need to...

When I don't know what I need
I need to get on my knees

When waves of doubt crash over me
I need to get on my knees

On my knees I find refuge
on my knees I find grace

On my knees I can feel You
like we're meeting face-to-face

When I don't know what I need
I need to get on my knees...

Old Whites

January brings winter whites,
and sometimes she brings
 "old whites".
:)

I've been painting with Annie Sloans' Chalk Paint,
and I really love the "old white"...
its such a creamy colour
with a richness to it that I love.
I'm not sure if you remember,
but in the late summer
I was so excited to receive these roadside chairs (for free)
that a friend of my husbands dropped off to our place
in his truck.

I could see the "shabby-chic" in them
and couldn't wait to take the brush to them!
I managed to paint one chair
and the pedestal part of the table that came with the chairs.
If you haven't noticed....I do everything slowly,
when I get the time!

But I still had a few more chairs to paint,
and a second coat to do on the pedestal part of the table.
I also was painting (with that same can of paint) our updated pantry that my beautiful Dad had re-invented for me,
after having shown him a photo from
"Pale and Interesting"
by Atlanta Bartlett

After almost finishing this pantry, I ran out of paint,
then waited...
and waited...
until just before Christmas
for another can of old white paint to come in the mail.

In the meantime... I searched for some new fabric
to cover the cushions,
and found a piece which would cover the chairs.
I was looking for something that would suit my shabby-chic love
and even though I looked while out-of-town,
I found it here in my own home-town for under $5.00 for the whole piece.
It was a remnant..and apparently was just waiting for me!
A dear friend agreed to cover the cushions for me...
he's very good at these things.
Well, they are finished and I am very happy with his act of kindness.
I even have some fabric left over,
which I am planning to make a purse out of!!

I have painted the table base now,
although it was still drying in this photo.
I just have to seal it with Annie Sloans' wax.
I can't wait for it all to be done!
I can't wait to show you too!
All this project cost me was $5.00,
oh and the Annie Sloan paint!
I'll be back to reveal soon!
After this I'm starting on our dining room table
in Annie Sloans' "pure white".
Didn't I say this was a month of whites?!
~

I've got projects enough to keep me busy all winter!
Just have to weave it in between work, family & rest
Blessings!!!

All my heart...Deborah xoxo
