Hello everyone!!!
You know.... before Christmas we were in the midst of re-doing our
living room floor.
I posted that I was hoping we'd be done before Christmas
and we were.
Just thought I'd show you it now.
My dear friend
Kerrie asked to see the floors
and our new Ikea couch.
My dear son had brought it up to us from near Toronto
a while before Christmas, but I left it in the box
until our floor was finished.
I've been dreaming about this couch for quite some time ;)
And the floor...well after finding that repainting our old original wooden floors white,
didn't turn out to be very practical in the long run for our home situation..
(5 doggies) lol
I asked hubby if he would put pine floors in and I would stain them.
He agreed and I'm/we're thrilled with the results!
My hubby laid the pine floors down (we love pine)
and I conditioned them,
and then stained them,
and sealed them.
I can't even say how happy I am with this floor
and how beautiful the stain turned out on the pine!
They have a soft grey look about them.
That's what I was going for when I chose the stain colour.
It is called "sunbleached" by Varathane
in case anyone is wondering,
and this is how it looks on pine.
A D O R E!
I am not bragging but I just couldn't have even dreamed it would
have turned out this beautiful!
Its such a soft grey and it compliments the whites
so beautifully.
I think it would go with so many different decorating styles...
shabby chic, coastal, country, farmhouse, romantic prairie style...
I love the Ikea white sofa too...its everything you girls
have told me it would be!
Thank you.
I'm still working on our living room décor
but it's coming along so beautifully.
I'm so grateful to my hubby for doing this for us!
He made us some tall baseboards for in there as well
and I painted them white of course. ;)
I love unpainted wood as well,
and how it pops with whites and painted wood.
I brought my homemade euro cushions into the living room
and I love them there!
My shabby shed will find them back in there come summer ;)
Or...maybe I'll have to make more!
Lol...love them...they're so comfy.
Maybe in the autumn we will get the Ikea loveseat
or 2 Ikea armchairs.
My husband gets tickled pink when he sees me sitting in here.
He said if he had known I'd be that happy with the floor he would have done it ages ago!
That was so sweet xo
I don't have a real fireplace but my father made me a
faux one a few years back (bless his heart)
and I bought this tea lite holder for it in Niagara on the Lake
a while back. It makes for a cozy fireplace.
It's also so fun to have a mantle to decorate year round.
I am waiting for my hubby to put wood planks
on the top of a coffee table he found on the roadside
a while back.
It has lovely detail on it and he did good for bringing it home for me.
I want to chalk paint it when he is finished putting the planks on
but in the meantime, I grabbed this bench he made for our dining room
and am loving it in the living room as our coffee table (temporarily)!
That candle my sister made for me matches perfectly with one of the colours in my cushions!
Love that...and love her!
Well I finally let go of Christmas in the living room...
but I still have touches of winters breath in there.
As much as I'd love to believe, it's not spring yet,
so I'll still keep the touches of winter around.
Hope you are all snuggling in and keeping warm.
I have missed you all so much,
but now that my new desktop is set up,
I'm back blogging and loving it!
All my love and hugs to each of you!
All my heart,
