I'm looking for beauty in this cold month
and when you awake to that beauty all around,
you find you really don't have to look too far to find it.
Through my bedroom window when I awoke this morning, through draped flowery sheers,
icicles and the whitest of snow blanketed on roofs.
My shabby shed is holding winters breath upon her
and newly planted peonies ,
hydrangeas and lavender
sleep beneath the ground of white.
Winter finds me sitting quiet at home
when I'm not at work.
My family is close in heart and I find it therapeutic
to knit and be still.
I'm making a sweater (my first) and am enjoying
its soft blues (a colour I wouldn't normally favour)
But when I bought it last year, it was in the sale bin and I thought it would go nicely with jeans.
That's practically all I wear :)
I fell in love with a slouchy sock pattern
and bought the book.
I said "I'd never want to make socks"!
I changed my mind when I saw this pattern.
This is my first sock and its a gorgeous teal.
I'm working on the heel now,
and will get more practice when I work on the second sock.
I attend a knitting group
and once a week I dress up warm and head out for two hours of
knitting with about 6 other women.
:)
I love it so far!
I'd like to make my daughter a pair for next Christmas!
They should be so comfy!
Baking is so relaxing and enjoyable for me,
and so it's great for the winter months.
A fragrant home filled with yummy scents.
I got these two new baking dishes at Christmas and I love them.
PINK!!!
Reading is also a great way to pass those cold winter days.
I ordered this gem before Christmas and have been gleaning
truths and applying them to my daily walk with my Saviour.
I would highly recommend walking with Mike through this book.
Life changing!
So that's been some of what I've been up to this winter.
How has yours been?
As always I'm so looking forward to warmer days but until then
there are ways to enjoy this season even if the cold isn't your thing.
Sending love...from my home & heart to yours
xo
All my heart,
Deborah xoxo
